Mystery Crime Novelist Richard Castle Defuses a Dirty Bomb
NEW YORK LEDGER By K. Sargeant on Apr 02, 2011 01:37PM
After yesterday’s events, bestselling novelist Richard Castle can add “bomb defuser” to his long list of accomplishments. Castle has been shadowing NYPD’s Detective Kate Beckett for the last couple of years. What began as research for his series of Nikki Heat novels became an unlikely partnership between a writer and a police detective. They have caught and convicted many murderers since they joined forces, but this week they were confronted by a much larger challenge. A murder case they were investigating lead to the discovery of a terrorist plot to detonate a bomb in the middle of Manhattan. Moments before detonation, Castle was able to use his writer ingenuity and sheer bravado to diffuse the bomb, saving the city from disaster and destruction. The Mayor has offered to give both Detective Beckett and Castle a key to the city as well as a medal of honor for their service to New York.
